Dublin, 12th May, 2020, ŠKODA Ireland has confirmed that the launch of their all-new ŠKODA Octavia is rescheduled until September, at the earliest. Originally planned to go on sale this June, one of Ireland's best selling cars was hampered by high demand from other European markets, combined with factory closures due to the Covid19 crisis, that has restricted the availability and supply for Irish customers. The Octavia has been a firm favourite with Irish buyers since it first appeared back in 1998. There are over 56,000 Octavia cars on Irish roads today with nearly 19,000 of these purchased since 2015. With a sharp new exterior design, elegant new interiors more safety equipment and the latest technology the Octavia will straddle several segments, potentially worrying some more traditionally executive-segment rivals. John Donegan, Brand Director, ŠKODA Ireland commented: "Regrettably we will not have sufficient supply of the new Octavia to meet the demands of our customers. So we decided to reschedule the launch until September. We are seeing more and more demand for higher specified vehicles. We will therefore simplify our offering from launch with Ambition and Style specifications only! Engine-wise a 1.5 TSI, 150 bhp petrol will be offered initially. Prices are likely, from €28,800 and €30,900, for the Ambition and Style respectively. The familiar 1.6 TDI Diesel unit that was offered in the Octavia range previously will be replaced with a 2.0 TDI, 115bhp anticipated from €28,750 for the Ambition. A more powerful 2.0 TDI, 150 bhp with 7-speed DSG transmission is expected from €32,995 and €35,095 for the Ambition and Style in that order. Our Octavia Combi estate vehicle will be launched at the same time. It will have a €1,500 premium versus the liftback.
