Get back to the opening page. The Green tec label denotes cars with lower fuel consumption and CO2 emissions than the standard CITIGO versions.
Lower emissions are achieved by:
brake energy recovery,
low rolling resistance tyres,
the Start-Stop system,
15 mm lower clearance.
The engines conform to EU6 emission standards.
When a vehicle is stationary, a running engine serves no purpose, yet still eats up fuel and emits pollutants. The Start-Stop system automatically switches the engine off when the vehicle is at standstill, reducing the engine’s overall fuel consumption.
If the driver stops the vehicle after a certain period of driving, shifts into neutral, releases the clutch pedal (and other conditions are met), the engine automatically switches off. As soon as the driver presses the clutch to shift into a gear, the engine is immediately reactivated.
Low rolling resistance tyres help to lower both fuel consumption and emissions. Lower rolling resistance is achieved by a special rubber compound and higher recommended pressure. These properties also help to prolong the tyre life. Changing the tyres less often not only saves money, but is also environmentally friendly.
Energy recovery converts kinetic energy back into usable electricity. During engine braking, the alternator supplies electricity to appliances and charges the battery, saving on the fuel that would otherwise be used on these tasks.
When the car is accelerating or driving steadily, the car taps into the electricity stored in the battery – therefore the burden on the alternator is lighter in this mode. Fuel supply is adjusted to the lower power use, delivering improved fuel economy.
