The upper part is dominated by the rising circular Škoda badge, the design of which reflects the long and rich history of Škoda.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[New front bumper]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>The large front bumper boasts a completely new elegant design, dividing its surface into three horizontal lines placed one over another.<BR><BR>The first one follows the upper edge of the new headlights and frame of the grill and passes through the front mudguards to the side of the vehicle, while the second one leads via the lower part of the lights and frame of the radiator.<BR><BR>The third horizontal line runs from the lower edge of the new fog lights and the large aperture of central air input and optically links up to the side part of the car on the level of doorsills.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Headlamps with new shapes and functions]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>The feature most characteristic of the new shape of the Octavia are the main headlamps. The regular geometric shapes of the previous design have been replaced by curved lines, and the lights themselves now reach further out to the side of the vehicle than the previous generation.<BR><BR>An attention-grabbing design element is the stylish Octavia logo on the side windows.<BR><BR>As well as the basic projector lights, the Octavia can now be fitted with xenon lights, with a function allowing them to swivel during a change of direction. As well as increased comfort for the driver this dramatically increases the level of active safety.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Foglights with Corner and Day light function]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>The new fog lights are now equipped with a corner function to assist drivers (at speeds of up to 40 km/hour), especially when turning corners with restricted visibility by illuminating the curve, pedestrian crossing or parking space.<BR><BR>The implementation of the daylight function now means the new fog lights have taken over the function of obligatory daytime illumination of the vehicle from the main headlamps (if the vehicle is not fitted with fog lights, the daylight function remains integrated within the main headlamps).</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[New external mirrors]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>A significant improvement in safety is represented by the new exterior wing mirrors. They not only have a new shape but are larger.<BR><BR>The lower part of the mirror includes integrated direction indicators, which have been newly created by using efficient light emitting diodes (LED).<BR><BR>When necessary, the mirrors can be folded using the electronic control located on the ignition key.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Body coloured side mouldings]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>The new shape of the side mouldings better protect the doors against damage. Now body coloured, they improve the elegant appearance of the vehicle’s profile.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[New rear lights]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>Not even the rear light cluster has escaped the facelift. The red reflectors in the central section have been replaced by a strip with chrome effect. <BR><BR>This now means the “C” shape of the rear light cluster is more defined and more visible than previously.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[New roof antenna]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>Designers and constructors paid a great deal of attention to each detail of the elegant body, its accessories and components.<BR><BR>If the vehicle is fitted with a radio which can take a GSM telephone, navigation, independent heating or any combination thereof, the traditional aerial is replaced with a newly shaped elegant antenna with a base in the form a fin.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[New rear bumper]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[Just like the front bumper the rear is a dominant feature of the new Octavia. An expressive horizontal line in the centre section flows over the parking sensors and leads on to the side section, optically linking up to the body coloured side mouldings.]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Reflectors on the rear bumper]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>The rear bumper includes an integrated spoiler with two moulded reflectors and a cutaway for the exhaust pipe.<BR><BR>The designers have improved the location of the reflectors which are shifted into the bumper from the centre of the rear light clusters by means of a tasteful rim linking their upper edges.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[New model logo]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>Changes have also been made to the Octavia logo on the boot. This includes six new designs of three and four-spoke steering wheels.<BR><BR>Apart from their shape, the steering wheels vary in covering (PUR, leather) or number of control features ( for audio, mobile telephone, gear shift under the steering wheel, etc.) acording to the levels of equipment. </P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Dashboard]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>Many changes have been done also in the layout of system indicators or the controls and functional regime sensors of the instrumental panel in the dashboard. <BR><BR>In the lower part of the large circular rev counter a temperature gauge of the engine cooling liquid has replaced many controls, and a fuel gauge occupies the same place on the odometer. <BR><BR>Both associated instruments, now with white underlit hands and figures, are linked design-wise in their upper part by a strip featuring a metallic effect.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Radio Bolero and Amundsen navigation system]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>Radio Bolero with CD, CD-MP3, CD-WMA player, an input for connecting up a hands-free facility and many other comfortable functions, is an instrument of the highest quality. Amongst other things it is fitted with a 6.5" TFT colour touch display and a mechanism for reading SD data cards or MMC. A sound system can of course be ordered for Radio Bolero.<BR><BR>Amundsen navigation system is controlled by a 5" touchscreen and is equiped with an AM/FM radio receiver, RDS and TP systems, CD and CD-MP3 player, SD card slot with navigational data. Dynamic navigation is supported by automatic traffic reports and the navigation can be shown on the Maxi DOT display. <BR><BR>Amundsen displays information regarding the Climatronic air-conditioning, parking sensors or the time, and has an input for connecting up a hands-free device.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Climatronic air-conditioning]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>Dual-zone air conditioning with electronic regulation allows the driver and front passenger to set their preferred temperature on the left and right side of the interior.<BR><BR>The excellent properties and comfort provided by the previous model have not been changed, but the air-conditioning control has been fundamentally changed. Airflow is now controlled by a chrome-framed, rectangular finger switch which has replaced the old swivel wheel. The further control features are placed around.<BR><BR>Two mini digital displays show the temperature set for each part of the interior. Temperatures can be set between 18 and 26°C. If the vehicle is equipped with heated driver and passenger seat, a control switch is situated in between the air-conditioning controls.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Automatic 7° DSG gearbox]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>The new seven-speed DSG gearbox is a huge advantage of the Octavia, specially during driving in cities. Driver enjoys the comfortable and dynamic ride with no loss of economic parameters. <BR><BR>The advanced technology of the dual clutch automatic transmission systems allows for optimum utilisation of the car’s properties in all driving conditions without fuel consumption increasing.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[New headrests]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>A change which may not be apparent at first glance but which is very important for the safety of passengers is the new shape and layout of the front headrests.<BR><BR>In addition to improved ergonomics, the headrest’s protection levels have also been improved. In the event of a collision from behind, they provide the driver and passengers with more effective protection.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Interior lighting]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>For improved passenger comfort, rear seat passengers now have reading lights situated in a joint panel in the centre section of the ceiling trim. <BR><BR>Left and right sides can be lit independently and if necessary, all the lights can be on at the same time.</P>]]></TextParagraph><TextHeader><![CDATA[Rear armrest]]></TextHeader><TextParagraph><![CDATA[<P>One of the many practical features of the new Octavia is the lifting armrest between the rear seats. <BR><BR>This feature not only improves passenger
